Web Design
It's probable that your customers are online, so if
your business isn't, you may be missing out on valuable sales opportunities.
A web site is your company's link to the rest of the world, not
to mention a cost-effective marketing and communications tool.
Eponian Design Solutions is equipped to handle all
aspects of web design including graphic design, information architecture
design, web site development, search
engine registration, and banner advertising to
promote your new site.
Web
Site Development
I can help you with everything you need to get your
web site up and running. Pricing is based on the complexity of the
project and is calculated on a project-by-project basis so I can
accommodate a variety of clients and budgets. Please contact
me to get an estimate for your project.
How do I get started?
Getting your own web site is not as overwhelming as
it may seem. Here's what the process usually looks like:
1. First, you will need to register your domain
name (www.yourcompanyname.com) with BuyDomains.com or another
domain registrar. Click here to see what names are available. I can
handle this process for you or you can have your web host handle
it. (Cost: $16-$35 per year payable to your registrar.)
2. Next, you need to find a web host for your web
site. A host is where your web site "resides". I can recommend
a host and help you get set up. (Cost: Usually ranges from $7/mo.
to $60/mo. depending on your needs, payable to your web host.)
3. At this point we will start your web site design. Before
beginning, I ask for a 30% down payment. We will begin by outlining
your goals for the site and defining your target market. It's helpful
if you can suggest some web sites, preferably in your industry,
that you really like so I can get a sense of your "style". If
you are providing copy and/or images for the site I will request
this information now.
4a. I will present you with several mockups
and we will pinpoint which elements you like best. I will
take that information and start designing your web site. During
the design process you will be able to monitor the progress of your
web site and make suggestions whenever you want by viewing it online
at a "hidden" web address (so no one else will see it
while it's under construction).
4b. I will present you with the nearly completed site
and you will have the chance to make some last minute changes. At
this point we will do all the necessary tweaking to get it exactly
how you want it. By now you should be promoting your new web site
as much as possible through word of mouth and advertising. I
will ask for the balance of the agreed upon price of the project
at this point.
5. The last step is search engine registration. This
assures that your web site will get traffic from the many search
engines on the web. This can be as simple as listing some
key words in your pages' meta tags* or as complex
as creating entirely new "doorway" pages based on specific
search engine requirements which redirect traffic to your site. How
much you want to invest in search engine registration depends on
how much business you plan to derive from your web site and how
much you want to pay to for that investment. NOTE: this is not an
immediate process. Search engines can take anywhere from several
days to several months to get to your site. Be patient!
That's it! See, it's probably not as complicated as you thought. To

* META TAGS are the descriptions
and keywords hidden in your web page that tell search engines what
your page is about. (i.e. an automotive web site would want to list
keywords like "car", "auto", "repair",
"truck", etc.) It's important to have accurate and descriptive
meta tags.
Banner
Advertising
Banner advertising is a new and exciting way of promoting
your business because it is relatively inexpensive and the success
of each ad can be tracked and recorded. Banners can be animated
or static, highly animated ads usually being larger in file size
and therefore less desirable. The standard size is 468 x 60 pixels
(although size requirments vary depending on where you plan to advertise).
Banner advertising differs from most other forms of advertising
in that it requires an eye-catching image and a succinct, intriguing
message which can be absorbed in two or three seconds. Remember,
your audience is on a particular web page to do something; they're
not there to read your banner ad and you don't have their undivided
attention. But a good banner ad catches the reader's eye and makes
them curious enough about your product or service that they will
click to find out more. When it comes to banner ads, less is more!

Search
Engine Registration
Search Engine placement is a critical (but often overlooked)
part of web design. If you don't get any traffic to your site there's
not much point in having one. I have researched this complex and
ever-changing topic and understand how to design "search engine
friendly" web sites.
